Invitation Tuesday October 16: How to tackle fake news?

The Asia-Europe Foundation, the EU-Asia Centre, the Press Club Brussels and EurActiv are inviting you to a joint event "How to Tackle Fake News" on 16 Oct 2018 at 14.30h at the Press Club, Rue Froissart 95, 1040 Brussels.

The scourge of Fake News has disrupted our political and social life as never before. President Trump has constantly criticized the mainstream media while Russia and other authoritarian states are using fake news as a priority PR weapon. The media industry is also one of the most affected by the on-going technological upheaval. Is the role of the gatekeeper gone? How are media companies in Asia and Europe coping with the change in news consumption? What is being done by tech companies and news organisations to ensure the accurate and responsible distribution of information? What can regulators from the EU and Asia do to improve the situation?
