Prospects for EU-Korea Relations and Regional Integration in East Asia

13 March 2013

INVITATION

Prospects for EU-Korea Relations and Regional Integration in East Asia

The EU-Asia Centre and Covington&Burling invite you to a roundtable on EU-Korea Relations and Regional Integration in East Asia on 13 March from 1100-1245 in the Press Club, Rue Froissart 95, 1040 Brussels.

EU-Korea relations have not had the same limelight as EU-China, or EU-Japan relations. But Korea is a strategic partner of the EU, and unlike China or Japan, it has a free trade agreement with the EU. This roundtable will assess the future relationship between the EU and Korea as well as the prospects for regional integration in East Asia. The US is pressing the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) while China, Japan and Korea are considering a trilateral FTA. China and Japan are also seeking to enhance ties with ASEAN. The EU is paying more attention to Asia and seeking to join the East Asia Summit. But how will developments in East Asia affect EU external policy?
