Both the High Representative and the Foreign Minister agreed that the support shown by the international community at large would contribute to Afghanistan's political and economic stability and development over the coming years.
The HR/VP and the Foreign Minister reviewed the strategic partnership between the EU and the Republic of Korea, which is benefitting from strongly expanding bilateral cooperation between Korea and Europe and increased cooperation on global issues of mutual interest.
In discussing recent events on the Korean Peninsula, and in particular the DPRK's fifth nuclear test, the HR/VP and Foreign Minister Yun were in complete agreement that the DPRK must abide by its obligations and abandon all its nuclear weapons and existing nuclear programmes in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner. The HR/VP expressed her hope that the UN Security Council would a firm and effective stand in light of this latest violation of the DPRK's international obligations.
